Crispy beer-battered fish tacos topped with fresh ingredients for a delicious coastal meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb white fish fillets (tilapia, cod, or halibut)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beer (light lager or ale)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, beer, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  2. Heat the oil: In a deep pan, pour vegetable oil to a depth of at least two inches. Heat the oil over medium-high until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  3. Fry the fish: Dip each fish fillet into the batter and carefully place in hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Warm the tortillas: In a skillet, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
  5. Assemble the tacos: Place fried fish onto a warm tortilla. Top with diced tomatoes, avocado slices, chopped cilantro, and lime juice.

Notes

For maximum freshness, prepare toppings right before serving. Maintain oil temperature during frying.
