A hearty and flavorful turkey chili recipe that’s perfect for warming up on chilly days. Easy to prepare and customizable for the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 lbs lean ground turkey
  • 1 cup low sodium beef broth
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 jalapeños, chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 packet Stevia (optional for sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (like Texas Pete)

Instructions

  1. Brown the turkey by adding the olive oil and ground turkey to a large pot over medium-high heat. Cook until lightly browned, then drain any excess liquid.
  2. Sauté the onion, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and jalapeños in the same pot for about 3 to 4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. Combine the browned turkey with the chopped vegetables, then add the crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, kidney beans, chili powder, oregano, cumin, salt, black pepper, cayenne, and hot sauce. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  4. Cook the chili by reducing the heat, covering, and letting it simmer for 30 minutes to an hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve the chili hot in bowls with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For a milder chili, reduce the amount of jalapeños. This chili is great for meal prep and can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
